Sauna Steam Helping Your Immune System

By Tracy Kerr-Walshe

You may not be aware that many people praise the benefits of being engulfed in sauna steam, or that there are any benefits to it at all. Well, there are certainly quite a number of benefits involved, such as a strengthened immune system, relief from stress and tension, rejuvenation and a deep cleansing of your skin, improved blood circulation and a more enhanced detoxification process. The steam is also known for providing relief from muscle tension and sinus congestion.

A steam sauna or a steam shower helps to boost your immune system because the sweat caused by the heat creates an artificial fever. When your body works to combat the fever it weakens the hold of viruses and bacteria in your body, which in turn aids in overall health promotion. The heat of a sauna simply speeds the body’s natural process to fight off invaders and infection.

Getting Rid Of Unwanted Toxins

Your blood circulation gets pumped up when your body increases the amount of sweat it produces. That is how it keeps itself cool, which results in your heart working harder to pump more blood at a quicker rate. Your body gets rid of unwanted toxins, which in turn improves general circulation. When sauna steam creates even more heat, it increases the circulation near the skin, which then stimulates sweating.

The steam from gym or home saunas relaxes your muscles and then frees them from all of your accumulated strain and tension. It also helps to relieve pain in your joints. The heat produced by the steam helps to improve blood flow more effectively to all areas of your body; therefore the stiff, contracted muscles and joints are relieved from discomfort and pain. In sports, saunas are highly recommended for athletes to review their options and combat sore muscles and tension.

External And Internal Sources Of Waste And Toxins

There are two main sources of waste and toxins. One of them is external sources and the other is internal waste. External sources include what you eat and drink, what you breathe and even how and with what you wash your hair.

Waste is by-products of the processes that go on inside your body. When your body digests food it is creating waste, when it heals itself it produces waste and even negative emotions can produce waste. Detoxify literally means getting rid of poisons or the effect of poisons from your body.

Everyone is exposed to some toxic chemicals or trace metals on a daily basis and since sweat is one of the major and most important forms of elimination, utilizing sauna steam can actually help promote and restore elimination through the skin.
