Purell Sanitizer Products

Many germs and pathogens that cause illnesses will be killed by washing your hands with soap and water; however, there are some stronger strains around that require a little extra potency in order to help prevent the spread of diseases.

Many believe that the answer to removing even the strongest strain is to use some type of antibacterial hand sanitizer, like the sanitizer gel made by Purell. This particular brand claims that it is much more effective than simply washing your hands when it comes to destroying gastrointestinal germs and bugs.

Transmission Of Germs In The Workplace

These products are perfect for many areas where people are in close contact, such as at work. Recently, a study indicated that the average desk, phone, keyboard or mouse harbors over 10 million germs, which are then transmitted to the hands and on to other people and equipment. Using some type of hand sanitizer gel or wipes is convenient if you are not always able to jump up and go to wash your hands.

Since more and more strains of germs are becoming immune to several current forms of sanitation, better products to help with this are being sought all the time. Of course there is no indication that using a hand sanitizer will guarantee that you will not become ill with something like the H1N1 virus, yet experts agree that you should wash your hands with soap and water often, and whenever possible.

However, it is also recommended that you review your options and *(use some kind of alcohol based sanitizer when you are out and about, such as the alcohol hand sanitizer made by Purell.

Some Resident Germs Help You Stay Healthy

Your body is covered with germs and some of them actually help you to stay healthy; they are referred to as resident germs. On the other hand, you are also exposed to transient germs from contact with other people or objects and it is those germs that are usually responsible for making you ill.

Hands washing and the use of hand sanitizers will both reduce some of your good resident germs while killing the transient germs. But your body will quickly regenerate your resident germs, which are generally harmless and important for healthy skin.

Using An Alcohol Based Product

When soap and water are not available, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer. Lab testing has shown that using an alcohol based product will not lead to antibiotic resistance.

The percentage of alcohol found in Purell products is at a safe and effective level that will help to reduce the number of the most common microorganisms and germs on your hands, thereby lessening the chance of you developing an illness related to these germs, as well reducing the chance of spreading the germs to other people and objects.

More Facts About Hand Sanitizers

Are the hand sanitizers you buy for personal use different from the ones used in hospitals?
The hand sanitizers that you find in hospitals tend to be stronger than the ones you can buy over the counter. But the difference is very small. More and more companies are producing hospital strength hand sanitizers so that people feel safer when they are out and about.

Since hospital employees use the sanitizers so much, many hospital grade sanitizers now have a lotion agent included to help prevent the skin from drying out and becoming irritated. While you may not be able to get a bottle of the hand sanitizer used in your local hospital, there are enough brands on the market that should enable you to find one you are happy with.
