Protein Powders Added To Cooking Ingredients

Imagine eating one apple for every meal for a week. You’d lose weight but you’d get bored pretty quickly, right? The same idea applies to protein powders. While healthy protein shakes can help you lose weight, they aren’t the tastiest things in the world!

To make protein shakes more appealing, you can add lots of flavorful ingredients without adding lots of calories. Eating breakfast is essential when you review your options and trying to lose weight. It kick starts your metabolism for the day and gives you the energy that you need. However, many of us have little time in the morning to make a full breakfast, so shakes made with protein powders are a big help.

Adding Protein To Your Breakfast And Cooking

Combining fresh fruit, juices, yogurt and low fat milk with whey protein powder will give you a delicious smoothie that you can take with you as you head out for the day. You can also add items like corn or bran flakes, flax seed and granola.

If you do have time to cook, try adding a scoop of protein powder to your pancake or waffle batter. You’ll add protein to dishes where there normally wouldn’t be any!

Making Your Own Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

You can even satisfy your sweet tooth while still getting lots of protein. These double chocolate peanut butter protein bars are a great snack in the middle of the afternoon when you’ve got the munchies.

You’ll need 1/4 cup reduced fat peanut butter, 3 tablespoons of fat free chocolate syrup, 3 scoops of chocolate protein powder and approximately 2 tablespoons of water. In small bowl, combine the peanut butter and chocolate syrup.

Blending The Ingredients And Create Four Bars

Add the protein and enough water to moisten slightly. Place mixture on waxed paper or plastic wrap, and knead by hand for a few seconds to blend the ingredients. Cut the mixture into four bars and wrap them individually in plastic wrap. Store them in refrigerator to keep them fresh.

Protein enriched powders aren’t just for shakes and fruit drinks. You can add a powder to almost any dish because of its solubility. Whey protein powder is especially good to cook with because it dissolves more completely than other types of powders.

Adding Protein When Cooking Meals

Try blending a scoop of protein powder into tomato sauces, soups, gravies and even mashed potatoes. Protein fortified powders can also be added to any and all baked goods. Try adding some vanilla protein powder to your favorite sugar free cake recipe or chocolate flavored powder to muffin mix. It really adds some delicious sweetness without adding empty calories.

Protein powders and supplements can help you lose weight by reducing your caloric intake, but you shouldn’t rely on them for all of your nutritional needs. Remember, the key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume.

Choose healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean sources of protein, and be active every day. Losing weight is important but you should also get some enjoyment from the foods you eat.
