Not Losing Weight With The Wrong Diet Plans

By Myfawny Craighter

Not losing weight is one of the reasons many people have given up on diets and weight loss plans. Some people lose the weight quickly and then put it back on, once they achieve their goal. Other people are not making the right food choices.

For example, eating a salad, with extra mayonnaise will not help you lose weight. Your alternative is to use low calorie mayonnaise or leave out the mayonnaise altogether. For some salads, you can use olive oil, as an alternative to mayonnaise.

Cooking With Sauces

Sauces are another cooking ingredient, that normally has many calories. There are low calorie sauces, but they may be hard to find. You should find them in health food stores.

If you seriously want to lose weight, then you need to look at your food choices and exercise often, in order to burn the calories. If you are not careful with your nutrition and exercise program, then you have two reasons you are not losing weight.

Knowing The Reasons You Are Not Losing Weight

The diet industry is one of the most profitable industries in the world. Why is this? There are a few theories on this. One is that nothing works, so people go from plan to plan and product to product spending money hoping that something will work.

Another, is that there are so many people looking to lose weight, that they will spend money on just about anything if they think there is a small chance it might help them. Either way, there are a lot of people out there not losing weight and they may not know why. If you can figure out why that is, you may be able to move on to something successful.

On The Wrong Plan

One reason why you are not losing weight is because you are not on the right diet plan. If you are taking on a low calorie and low fat plan, you may be starving yourself.

You can lose this way, but you will probably go back to your old eating habits once you have reached your goal and you shoot right back up again to your heavy weight, if not higher. You are not going to maintain because you did not adopt an eating plan that works for you.

There May Be A Medical COndition

Some women have a condition known as PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome. This is often accompanied by something call insulin resistance or pre-diabetes. If you have this, your best bet for a diet is not the low calories high carb diet that many companies offer.

If you are eating a lot of carbs with insulin resistance, you are not losing weight very easily - if at all. In fact, you may be gaining and you do not know why. Try out a low carb diet like Atkins or South Beach to see if that works better for you in your weight loss endeavors. Check with your doctor, before you make any changes to your diet, to prevent any adverse consequences to your health.

Not Measuring Your Food Correctly

You may also find that you are not losing weight, despite your best intentions, because you are not measuring your food in the right way. If a diet plan calls for one serving of meat, but does not specify what that serving may be, you are probably eating too much at each meal.

Your calorie count may be way off from what you think you are eating. Take the time to research proper portion size and exercise portion control to get a better indication of what is supposed to be on your plate with each meal.

Sauces And Mayonnaise Can Add The Calories To Your Meals

Most dieters do not pay enough attention to the extras they are adding to their meals. This is why they are not losing weight as the plan says they should. Extra sauces and other ingredients can add more calories than you think.

This is also something to watch out for when eating out. The innocent looking meal may have huge numbers of hidden calories in just the sauce that comes on the side. If you are eating what appears to be good food, but not losing weight, skip the extras and stick to what you know.

Find out how to incorporate your new eating habits into your menu for life and keep that weight off once you are done. Otherwise, you could be on the diet roller coaster for a very long time.

Losing Weight With A Dietitian

If nothing is working, then you should visit your medical doctor, to confirm there is nothing medically wrong with you. If you have a health condition and you are overweight, your doctor may refer you to a registered dietitian who can help you maintain your diet, within guidelines set by your doctor.

For example, if you are a diabetic, your dietitian will inform you which foods are high in sugars, and thus avoid eating high sugar foods, to help reduce your blood sugar levels. Diabetics can also reduce their weight loss by taking up an exercise plan.

Exercising To Burn Off Calories

There is a reason why everyone needs to exercise. By exercising, your body is burning off the excess calories, rather than storing them as fat. This is why you see many athletes with hardly any fat. Because they spend long periods in the gym.

You do not have to spend long hours in the gym. You can exercise at home, at your most convenient time. I find my best time to exercise, is early in the morning, before I head off to work. While the rest of the family is asleep, I am in the home gym room, exercising on the bike or running on the treadmill and on other exercise equipment. I like to use a different exercise equipment every day, to keep me fit and keep the weight off.

If you are not making better food choices and do not exercise to burn calories, then these may be the reasons you are not losing weight.
