Motivation To Lose Weight Is Being Aware Of Your Needs

By Tracy Kerr-Walshe

Motivation to lose weight is wanting to meet your goals and make you feel proud of your potential achievements. Look at how you feel today, wonder how you will feel in a few months time, when you see a different person in the mirror. One who is much leaner and continues to lose weight.

You can look for motivating factors in your life. For example, you may need to start a new relationship by dating again. You want to make the best impression for potential dates. You want your date to see a lean and impressive person who takes the effort to look after himself. One who is overweight may turn off potential dates, because it says you are not motivated to look after yourself. Making the effort to review your options and look good in front of a new date, will help you start a new relationship on the right track.

Thinking about your reward, moving ahead with your life, will give you enough motivation to lose weight.

Being Aware Of Motivating Factors

Someone asked me the other day, where he could find the motivation to lose weight. I told him that there were a number of things in life that he could use as motivation, and he just had to keep his eyes open and be aware of why he wanted to lose weight in the first place.

A few years ago, I was significantly overweight. I, too, had a difficult time finding the motivation to lose weight, because I had everything that I wanted in life — a husband, children, a home and a pretty comfortable lifestyle. Then I realized that my motivation was right in front of my eyes.

Finding Reasons To Lose Weight

My husband is not overweight and neither are my children. I was the only one who really needed to lose weight. I sitting at the dining room table one night and started thinking about an article that I had read about a man who had a heart attack that was not much older than I was at the time. He had a wife and two kids, and it all kind of hit home for me then. My family was my motivation to lose weight.

My best friend used to be overweight as well, and found out that it was getting in the way of doing his job. His employer basically told him that he needed to lose weight or he would run the risk of failing one of the physical tests that his job required. That was all the motivation he needed to lose weight, and within a year he had lost 100 pounds.

Attending A Class Or Family Reunion

Another great motivation to lose weight is a class or family reunion. Any time that you are going to see people that once knew you as being thin, or, on the flip side, have always known you as being heavy, that is a great motivator to drop some weight before the big day.

Being able to go shopping for clothes and knowing that you will look better, can be great motivation for losing weight. Knowing that you will feel better, period, and be much healthier, can also be a great motivation to drop a few pounds.

Losing Pounds Makes It Easier To Climb A Long Flight Of Stairs

My aunt was having trouble climbing a long flight of stairs at work, and that was motivation enough for her to lose weight, and now she says she can run up that same flight.

The thing to remember is that losing weight is not easy, but it does not have to be hard, either. Having a motivation to lose weight always makes it much easier to do so. Generally, if you think back to when you became aware of your weight being a hindrance to you, you can use whatever that moment was as a motivator and have success getting the weight off.

Changing Your Diet To Lose The Winter Fat

Summer is here, you want to go to the beach and have a relaxing day. You look at your winter fat and you wonder if you will feel embarrassed walking around with all those pounds, for all to see. This is the time when you look at ways to change your diet.

You can stop eating those big portions with all the fat you can eat, and change your diet to low fat food. The best meals, are those with fresh ingredients you cook yourself. Rather than buying take aways, you can either grow your own fruit, vegetables and herbs in a garden in your yard, or buy more greens to include in your meals. Remember, if you can eat more vegetables, then you are eating less fat.

Burn Off The Excess Calories With Exercise

Your next step is to burn off all the excess calories, with an exercise program. These days, many workplaces have a gym, or there is a gym near your place of work. Alternatively, you can set up your own gym at home. You can even have a trainer come to your home and show you the best exercises to lose weight and advise you on the best gym equipment to use in your home.

If you cannot afford a trainer, you can always buy a range of exercise DVDs or visit You Tube. A basic exercise program can begin with an exercise bike, starting with 10 minutes a day in the first week, then 20 minutes every day in the second week and then increase it to half an hour a day.

I find the best time to exercise in the morning, before I leave for work. After my exercise routine, I feel fresh and very much motivated to face the new day.

Using these tips, you will find more motivation to lose weight.

More Facts About Snack Foods

Are there healthy alternatives to store bought snack foods?
Of course there are healthy alternatives to store bought snack foods. Some of the healthiest choices for snacks are to eat a piece of fruit. You will not only get some of your daily recommended vitamins but you will also get a very healthy boost in energy. If you are tired of fruit and vegetables as a snack, you can always make homemade granola bars.

This way you can control the amount of protein, carbohydrates and sugars that go into the bars. They can be made fairly quickly and store very well. Even cookies and cakes can be prepared in a more healthy way. You may have to do a little bit of research to find out great substitutions but you will be doing your part to help snack a bit healthier. Other healthy alternatives could be beef jerky, nuts, berries or even a cup of yogurt.
