One type of footwear that is usually a good choice for wearing outdoors is the sandal, as they offer some protection but also allow your feet to breathe. While both womens sandals and mens sandals are available, they are perhaps the best choice for something like casual walking and not sports.

Of course the styles that consumers want, are changing all of the time and as something becomes more in demand it means that the companies that fill that demand become more popular, which in turn increases their revenue. For example, dress slides are very comfortable with their cushioned soles and they tend to have a minimal cut out design on the sides, yet they actually cover more of the foot than the more traditional sandals. This makes them perfect for times when flip flops would be unacceptable but a dress shoe or loafer would be a little overdressed.
