Healthy Breakfast For A New Day

By Myfawny Craighter

There is no doubt, a healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After going without food during sleep, it is important to refuel for the beginning of a new day.

Breakfast gives you the energy you need, to stay alert and complete necessary tasks at work or school. Going without breakfast is not advisable. Note that breakfast, is the breaking of the fast. Do not forget to break the fast each morning, for your optimal health.

If you currently do not eat breakfast on a regular basis, then you can review your options and change it now. If you do, you want better options for breakfast then we will give you ideas for a healthy breakfast.

Avoid White Bread And Sugar Loaded Cereals

First things first. White bread and cereals overloaded with sugars are not healthy and should be avoided. Alternatively, reach for whole grain bread, wholegrain cereal or oatmeal. These foods are high in both fiber and nutrients and allow slow release of energy during the morning hours. This is especially good for children during their school hours and work for you when you need to be alert for an early business meeting or a busy day ahead!

Always choose cereals with an abundant supply of nutrients, especially B vitamins, vitamin D and iron. All of these important nutrients help to increase the level of your energy for the busy hours ahead.

Read Nutritional Information Before Buying Any Food Product

Before buying a cereal, be sure to check the package nutrition labeling, to determine the amount of salt and or sugar it contains. The best option for breakfast cereals is to contain a minimal amount of each.

When eating your breakfast, do not buy a cereal low in sugar and then add a heap of white sugar or brown sugar on top of it, for extra flavor. If you crave more sweetness in your cereal, then add a pinch of cinnamon instead. Adding fresh or dried fruit helps to improve the taste of your healthy breakfast .

Fruit Juice With Your Breakfast

Fruit juice, for example, a glass of orange juice is a welcome addition to any breakfast. The reason for this is because vitamin C in the juice will encourage the absorption of iron that comes from bread or grains you have eaten during your meal. Iron is an essential nutrient, especially for your children. It helps in their growth and development.

Calcium In Milk And Dairy Products

Calcium is necessary to maintain healthy bones and teeth. To get the calcium you need, make sure you drink milk or eat dairy products during breakfast. Drink low fat or skimmed milk, eat low fat cheese and low fat yogurt with probiotics.

Stay Hydrated For The Whole Day

Start your morning with a glass of water and make sure you drink enough water, milk and or fruit juice at breakfast to ensure you are well hydrated. Continue this important trend throughout the day.

A Smoothie For A Quick Breakfast

If you are looking for ideas to make your breakfast more interesting or if you find yourself in a hurry, why not make a smoothie with low fat milk or yogurt, fresh fruit and fruit juice? Try adding banana or strawberry juice to your smoothie! Starting your day with a smoothie is a delicious way to start your new day. The next day, when you have more time, you can begin a new day with a healthy breakfast.
