Hands On Weight Loss Diet Nutrition Tips Guide

Hands On Anything With Microbes

By Veronica Tripplethorn

It is a child’s natural way of discovery, to put their hands on anything and everything they can reach. Then if they are able to grab something it will invariably end up in their mouth as well and germs get passed on that way. Obviously, trying to make sure they have clean hands is the primary way to help prevent the spread of germs and diseases.

One major source of germs can come from a child’s surroundings, such as a daycare center or school. Often children can pass along germs without ever getting sick themselves so it is important to try to be sure that all of the little hands are clean. It can be difficult to always find soap and water when needed. Therefore, having a hand sanitizer dispenser is a good idea.

Use Sanitizer Wipes On Hands And Surfaces

Germs are not only on hands, as they live on most surfaces as well. When a child puts their hands on a contaminated surface, then they stand a good chance of carrying the germs and getting sick themselves.

The hand sanitizer wipes can obviously be used on hands; however, they can also be used to wipe down any surfaces that may contain germs. Since germs spread quickly from person to person and surface to surface, it is a good idea to use the wipes several times a day to help prevent them from spreading.

A Child Builds Up Immunity

No parent wants their child to get sick, but believe it or not, it is actually not bad for a young child to be sick through some of the more common germs found in colds, etc. This is because a child builds their immune system by getting sick and then getting well as the body begins to build up a certain amount of immunity to germs.

However, you don’t want them to be sick every time they turn around so being sure there is some type of gel hand sanitizer or wipes on hand is still a good idea.

Toys Can Be A Breeding Ground For Microbes

Washing your child’s toys is another great way of helping to prevent the spread of germs and disease, as they are very hands on, when it comes to their toys. Yet their toys can easily become a breeding ground for microscopic bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa that can cause disease.

You should review your options and still use wipes hand sanitizer to clean the surfaces, but washing them on a regular basis will help to ensure that they are kept clean and have less of a chance of infecting your child. You should also be sure to wash them after another child has been playing with them as they may have brought germs in with them that could possibly cause your child to become ill.

More Facts About Hand Sanitizers

Are hand sanitizers effective?
Hospitals have been using hand sanitizers for years and have shown them to be quite effective. On the other hand there have been reports of bacteria becoming resistant to the active ingredients in sanitizers. The problem is that not all sanitizers for your hands work alike. Some do actually leave behind a residue that allows the remaining bacteria to still live and breed.

Those bacteria eventually become resistant to the germ killing ingredient and become stronger. The key is to use hand sanitizers properly and know which brands you can trust and which you cannot. You should also read the instructions carefully so that you know how to apply the sanitizer in the most efficient manner.
