Extreme Skiing Is Extremely Dangerous

By Spiridon Rafter

Extreme skiing is one of those extreme sports that places the skier in a position against nature, taking us back to those days when we battled nature for survival. Extreme skiers are a special breed of people; they are the type of person that takes impossibilities and turns them around into relative "maybes".

They are the type of person that sees an unassailable mountain and thinks that they can climb it and plant their flag right on top. They are the type of person that looks at the sport of skiing and says "no thanks" to the conventional methods and decides that doing a few tricks and getting some "massive air" would better express their bond and their conflict with nature.

Yes, nothing says extreme like taking to the slopes aboard a helicopter and getting dropped in the middle of nowhere to make your way back down.

When You Want Something More Than Your Average Thrill

Most people believe that extreme skiing is insane, but in fact, these types of thrill-seekers are regular people like you and I, that believe the sport of skiing just needs an extra boost of energy.

Those who participate in extreme sports usually have conquered or learned much of all there is to know about the normal level of activity and want something more. They add their own twist to skiing, review their options and try to make it more challenging or interesting to others and overall.

A Peak With A 45 To 60 Degrees Angle

Extremists can and will always exist, even in the category of extreme skiers, but general, there are plenty of choices available for any individual who just wants a little more.

Extreme skiing is typically done on mountains of impressive size and slope. No ordinary mountains will do for the most extreme of extreme skiers, so peaks of around forty-five to sixty degrees in angle are often conquered by those looking for a new rush.

Skiing In Unprepared Hills

The sport is often performed in the backcountry or as those ever-obscene French would say "off-piste". No, off-piste skiing does not refer to skiing while intoxicated. It is, rather, skiing in a sparse area over ungroomed and unprepared hills that were never really intended for the purpose of skiing.

There is often no way to get there other than by the skiers’ own resolve, as most of these off-piste places do not include any form of mechanical lift assistance or cable cars.

Illegal In Many Countries

Extreme skiing is illegal in many countries and officials discourage individuals from practicing in the sport. Long slopes and very dangerous terrain used by extreme skiers offers a great risk to many people who would attempt copycat techniques and skiing tricks best left to professionals.

Even those skilled in the sport, having a wealth of experience and ability under their belt, succumb their lives to the mountains they attempt to achieve their thrill on, and some extreme skiers have died practicing their sport.

More Facts About Home Gyms

Let’s face the ugly truth: most people would rather push the remote control button for their television set than take the time to get up and walk to the television. The sad fact is that most people are not getting the exercise they need on a daily basis. This leads to poor health and obesity far quicker than you can imagine.

The heavier you get, the harder it is to lose that weight. That is why so many people are utilizing a personal trainer to help keep them motivated.
